Laramie vs. Laramie Longhorn leather interiors...any durability issues?

I just ordered mine a weak ago an don't even have my vin yet an my salesman is of until Monday. So i thought id ask for everyone's opinion an advice an if it wasn't that much more i would consider telling my salesman to change the code on Monday.

*DJ is the sales code to upgrade to full leather

Rich, I had no idea that option existed.

Where did you find that list at? I would love to get the COMPLETE list of the order codes for the Laramie and Laramie Longhorn. I knowledge was based off of the Build and Price on Ram site and what my dealer has told me in the past.

Could you POST or PM me the link to that list? Thanks

Some days are better than others, that's for sure. But I'm definitely glad I joined. These sales codes actually came from my dealer. The build an price page doesn't give all the possible configurations

Thanks ! I surely do appreciate it !

Lol...this really got a good conversation going!! I APPRECIATE all the inputs and have coupled all of them with discussions at the dealership and have decided to stay with the Laramie, black, bucket seats. In fact, I placed the order today and will start another post with a copy of the build sheet. Thanks again for all the great feedback!!

My original decision was the leather trim bucket seats, Laramie until I knew you could get the full leather seats as an option then I started to second guess my decision but it sounds like the full leather is more luxurious but the leather trimmed sounds more durable, wich is what i need. Ok back to my first pick

I’ve owned 2 1500 Longhorns (2013 previous & 2019 currently), 1 2500 Limited (2017) and currently a 2019 2500 Laramie. My wife is driving the 2019 Longhorn, it and the 2013 had cattle tan leather, the Limited was black leather and the Laramie I just bought has black “pleather” with white stitching. All of the interiors held up well, no discoloration or excessive wear. I didn’t care for the bamboo “wood” in the Limited, it just didn’t feel right. The only issue I had with interior the Limited had a belt buckle on the back of the passenger seat that popped off. Ram authorized a new seat cover. I thought it would just be a simple fix to add another buckle but that was their solution. I was worried it wouldn’t look the same or match material wise but it did, exact match. They don’t have that same design in the 2019’s. It’s too soon in the 2500 Laramie experience to comment on that one but if past performance is indicative of the future it will hold up. I’m a heavyweight with 2 previous spinal procedures and one of the things I really like about Ram is the seats are among the best out there, comfortable and sturdy.

There are minute differences between the trim levels but overall the Longhorn is my favorite. It makes me happy just sitting in it and feeling the interior. Mental satisfaction does have a price...All of the interiors are blends of materials but the Longhorn and Limited came with a tag on the passenger seat that stated the interior came from the same cow, must have been a big one from Texas. The 2019 Longhorn has faux gator hide on the door panels which are leather, thats the only thing I don’t care for. Looks a little tacky, they should’ve gone with Ostrich !!

The differences are small so you really you have to pay attention to things like the finishes, chrome vs matte silver knobs and accent pieces, interior convenience lighting, rain sensing wipers etc. All of it comes at a cost of course but totally worth it in my opinion if you can afford it. My Laramie dash has deep grained vinyl, the Longhorn has smooth leather. I’ll post a few pics to try and highlight the differences. The Laramie is a very nice truck that is optioned very close to the next trim level but was about $10k cheaper. It was super close to what I would have selected for options , I needed the HD capability and decided I could live with the mid grade model for this purchase. It isn’t too far off the Limited or Longhorn. So far I’m very happy with it. Next one I’m going to custom order to get the exact truck I want, the way I want it. I love the Ram brand and the interiors set them apart from the rest.

I tried to post the pics in order of Laramie first followed by the Longhorn. Hopefully this will help with your decision making.

Man o man, those are some great pics, much appreciated. I also went with the Laramie over the longhorn an limited versions. Ordered it completely fully loaded to have everything the limited has except the headlights that moves (wich none seams to really care for over the bigger style) an the leather upgrade. It's about a 6k price difference. You can definitely tell from your pictures that the upgraded leather is nicer but I think I'll be just as happy saving the 6G. If it was only 1000 difference I would probably of done it.

Happiness is a state of mind, be happy with life especially when you can custom order a shiny new RAM truck !! Life is good. On Thursday I had some additional bed lighting put in at the local Trick Truck store. Those guys see a lot of trucks and they were raving about mine. It hit me pretty hard that those guys didn’t care about trim levels they just liked the truck for what is was, a nice truck. I’m pretty sure they weren’t in a place to afford one so it also made me stop to count my blessings and be humble and thankful I’m in a place in life where I can.

You ordered it the way you wanted ... so you’re paying for what you’re getting and not for things you don’t want. Mine has options like the painted bumper, sport appearance package, I wouldn’t have ordered but actually does make the truck stand out. I’m sure you will be happy with your new Laramie. There is something about that new car smell that makes people happy.

My truck is below. Same color as my 1500 Longhorn, Maximum Steel metallic. Looks like big and little brother side by side in the driveway.

Sweet looking ride. I got the Drw Laramie , also like you, i got the sport pkg with painted bumpers an all black inside but billet silver ext. An your right, were very fortunate to be able to order an 83 k rig . Cant post a pic yet as mine is in D2 status.

I believe the DJ code for all leather can only be applied to the Longhorn and the Limited.
My grandson-in-law is a Ram general Sales Manager and he tried to get all leather on my ordered Laramie.
Said it can't be done. It will be interesting to hear the results of those trying for an all-leather Laramie.

Yah exactly because I've heard numerous say they ordered it with the upgraded leather but I would think that a ram general sales manager would know more than any of us, at least we hope so anyway

All order codes are not available on all trim levels. You can't order a Laramie with vinyl seats, either, even though there is an order code for them.

Very interesting, seams to be quite the difference of opinion on this topic. sounds to me that people have just talked of doing this, no actual premium leather upgraders have spoken up yet who have actually tried to do this, not just talked about it.

I want to see someone order a RH drive.

Well, I used to drive a rt hand drive truck, so those do exist. Hahaha
