2022 Ram Tow/Trailer Camera Options

Thanks - but my point is yours has an unusual option relative to towing and you may get lucky on other Trailer Tow options
Best, ed

Max tow is not "unusual" and the wiring and cameras are no different than an SRW truck with the same options.
My thoughts are whoever added the Coax was not thinking about 5th wheel or gooseneck - but obviously you are buying package specific to bed hookup and you might get lucky and whoever put the Max Tow package together was smart enough to realize you needed the coax in bed (as well as the HO and DRW) - while the rest of us would never consider towing a gooseneck or 5th wheel.
See above.
What? (please see my sig image if in doubt. LOL
You are probably right - and I definitely would not bet on it, but at some point RAM needs to get smart enough to address this deficiency and until buyer sees the truck, you never know - I was pleasantly surprised to have 12 pin when I did not order anything that uses 12 pin and MOPAR Parts check says I don't have the 12 pin. As to seeking out previous buyers with Max Tow, it could be done with some options research or a general posting, but its easier and more current to talk to one who is expecting a newer build truck and who has asked the initial questiom.
It was well established in the first page of this thread how this all worked and had to be optioned. If you have 360°, you get the 7/12-pin on the bumper. If you add 5th wheel prep, that's also added to the bed. Coax is only on the bumper.
I figured that out - but tried to order extension to put 12 pin in bed and MOPAR Parts Dept says I dont have the 12 pin at all per my VIN even after I sent them a picture of bumper 12 pin.
As Jimmy pointed out, you have to use a VIN for a truck with the option. OF COURSE a Rambox truck isn't going to have a bed 7/12 setup.
Rambox - going with B&W turnover ball for gooseneck. Going to try and move Coax connector from bumper to bed if length works out - but trying to get all parts together to do all at once.
I hope you get it all sorted out. If you haven't already found them, the part numbers for the wiring and plugs were listed in one of the old aux trailer tow camera threads (should be a sticky) but were at one point impossible to get.

Like I said, I’m fine with what I get, and I’m assuming the wiring and cameras will be thrown in the cab. I appreciate all the insight from everyone I’ve spoken with in these forums.

There is a lot of stuff for me to go back through now that I have my very first ship date (3/3) and nothing but time to research.

It has been mentioned by people that all this info just repeats itself as time goes on, but it is nice that some don’t mind revisiting topics again.

Here is what I’ve gotten so far, wiring (68525632AA), mounting plate (68453200AA), and 12/7 pin connector (68526302AB) to relocate to the rambox bed. Tow mode camera connector comes next week.

If you give them your VIN, and you tried to order the extension harness (I’m assuming you mean the one you use to switch between the bed connector and bumper connector), they will say you don’t have it because their system filters parts based on VIN. They can only see part numbers that your truck is equipped with as it was built. If your truck didn’t come with the bed connectors or the extension harness, then they’re going to say those parts don’t fit your VIN.
If you need to order something to add to your truck that it wasn’t optioned with, you need to give them the VIN of a truck that is equipped with what you want. Or, if you know the part number already, just tell them not to worry about the VIN and sell you the part.
Ordered and paid for the specific part numbers to start the whole process. - Guy held order up and emailed asking me if I was trying to move camera connector to bed - answered yes - then he came back and was adamant that my truck did not have the 12 pin camera connection on bumper (or the Tow Mode coax) - only the 7 pin. Guess I should not have given him the VIN - did not have to have it to get other parts not on original build - should have just told him to ship the parts I ordered.

Camera packages (camera plus wiring for Tow Mode or cameras plus lots of wiring and junction box for Trailer Surround) and TTPMS if you have it should be in plastic bags inside truck. Make sure you have all cameras and TTPMS when you take delivery - there has been one person who was reportedly short the cameras. Mine was behind seat in Megacab - others have reported parts in storage compartments depending on package.

I tried to read all the posts, but I am still a bit confused. The "here is the info/answer" posts have possible part numbers for the digital rear-view mirror but none for the 360 XN1 system.

I didn't order it with my truck as it was not available, I ordered everything except the snow plow and sun roof at the time.

From what I have read part number 68527709ac or 68527709ac-001 is the part number for the 360 system, if I can find this for sale am I golden short of installation? I do have the proper plugs due to the max-tow package.

Please no "read the thread" replies, I DID.....

2 basic camera system options - first has multiple camera options viewed thru Uconnect screen only - this includes the 4 camera Trailer Surround system and an earlier single rear camera option - but you have to choose between Trailer Surround or Trailer Rear view. I dont have these but was told they are like the truck surround in that they only work for short duration (10 seconds or so) or at low speed (i,e, backing / parking). These use the 12 pin connector on right of license plate and depending on options, there may also be a 12 pin connector in bed on drivers side. None of these cameras will work with the Digital Rear View system below.

The trailer systems above require the 12 pin connector. The Digital Rear View Mirror or the Tow Mode Camera / Digital Rear View have nothing to do with the Trailer Surround View. My understanding is you get the 12-pin connector if you order the Trailer 360 Surround View or the other earlier Rear single camera. I believe you could at one time order camera wiring as a stand alone option. And I now understand you get the 12 pin if you have the Truck Surround View option even if you dont order Trailer Camera options. Bottom line - there are a number of ways to get the 12 pin connector. And if you have the 12 pin connector, I believe you should be able to add the trailer cameras above. But if you dont have the 12 pin connector, it may be possible but definitely not easy. As to camera systems - check the classifieds - one member was trying to sell a Trailer Surround a few weeks back.

The other Tow Mode wired Digital Camera (designed to be used as a Trailer Rear View mounted to top of back of trailer) can operate full time (based on selection of either Truck Rear View or Trailer Rear View). It displays in the Digital RearView Mirror only and uses a coax connector on left side of license plate (not in bed regardless of options which is a pain for us gooseneck people). This camera system is unique and on back order - if you did not order with truck you may be out of luck for a while. The part number for the Tow Mode Digital Camera MAY BE 68527 599AA or POSSIBLY 68526 533AA. But suggest you dig thru this thread as others can verify or correct this P/N.

My understanding is NO other non-MOPAR cameras will work with either system.

Thanks, I’ll hit this down for the inspection list

Got the truck, no luck on second coax, but no suprise. Can confirm mine has everthing programmed already for trailer 360 and aux2. Neither of which I ordered with truck. Just trailer tech on a limited longhorn trim…

Figured that would be the case on Coax - but yo ucan always hope - incredible to me that RAM / Stellantis has not addressed this obvious design deficiency. I am sure they will address this at some point, or at least sell a kit like there has been for years to move the 7 pin to bed.

If anyone ordered the tow mode camera and is wanting to sell it I will buy... Message me..

If there is a second person (since Rockman took first dibs) that ordered a tow mode camera and is wanting to sell, message me.

Don't take me off the list either;) I've been looking for a couple of months now.

I ordered one of two available in Detroit from parts... They are pricey.. Mine should be here Monday

Question… I have the digital mirror wrapped up in the Safety Group and XH7 (Tow-Mode Camera (Wired)), but I did not select the tow mode digital mirror package.

Do I get the XH7 hookup on the bumper? I mean is XH7 just a code that says “throw a towing camera parts bag in that rig” or does it tell the factory to wire the truck for the camera?

If you have Digital Rear View Mirror, you should have a coax connector on bumper on left side of license plate (but not in bed). This is the truck side of the Tow Mode Camera setup - The camera if purchased separately should have camera and trailer side wiring as shown in other response.

Now I'm confused. Your attachments show for the trailer surround camera system part #82216421AB-001, however I have a camera surround view system with part #68527709AC-001. It contains the same instruction sheet that is shown in image #2. Is image #1 the part number for the "Wired Tow Mode Camera"?
