2022 Ram HD Builds and orders - Post and discuss your TRUCK order here! ** NEW USERS READ POST #1 **

Great looking truck!! I too live with too much winter and have the need for rust preventative. I've tried about everything from Ziebart to Fluid Film and Wool Wax. Ziebart is too expensive for what it was and they never did it with as much detail as I would have liked. Fluid Film maybe lasted a year. Wool wax lasted the longest on my last truck (only after I learned the trick to drive it down the dirt roads and get a coat of dust on it right after you spray) but what a mess as it stays pliable and you end up wearing it if you touch anything under the truck and I finally had a guy tell me about "RP-342". Can get black or kind of a transparent-ish clear. Stuff is great, won't come off without solvent and basically looks like you coated the frame and underneath with wax. I have it on my Wrangler and my wife's JGC Summit. Already have it sitting in the garage to do my new Power Wagon when I finally pick it up. https://www.cosmolinedirect.com/cosmoline-sprays/ Thought I'd share.
I had good luck with boiled linseed oil. Mixed it 50/50 with lacquer thinner and shot it in my rockers, doors and tailgate. Coated the inside of my box sides with the rust preventer from Eastwood. No body rust on my 2014. I do have frame rust but I didn't coat that because I was afraid the linseed oil would attract dust. May do it on the next one though.

Does anyone know of any places in the Midwest (prefably Illinois or Wisconsin) that will apply Cosmoline? I am planning on putting on Fluid Film since there is an applicator about 45 minutes away from me. I would gladly apply Cosmoline if I could find a place that applies it. As other have mentioned all of these coatings are messy to apply and I will gladly pay someone else to deal with the mess afterwards.

The Cosmoline comes in spray cans. I plan to do it myself...with the help of my lift of course.

That happens when they're going to phase in a new trans.

<evil grin>
How would that work if true? I put my order in for my HO on 1/23, if they did start phasing in a new trans would mine potentially get one or would it quietly become an option on new orders going forward?

*IF* big IF they did a mid-year or 2023 trans update, it would be announced.

I'm just having a little fun creating more rumors for the google bots.

Yeah, maybe I'm just one of the unlucky ones. I'm at 16 weeks for an Oct Mark Dodge order. Two nearly identical trucks ordered in Nov and Dec have been built ahead of me.

On a positive note, there's only 1 LL, SRW, HO ordered before me that hasn't been built on the sheet. Hopefully @ElkRam and I will be cruising down the line shortly . . . Should test your theory as his is going to California.

That’s me! Hope the info from a call to RamChat is accurate. Said build scheduled for 2/25 (Friday) and ship out 3/11 - 3/18.

View attachment 31849View attachment 31850View attachment 31851Here the pics of my truck finally cleaned up a bit and got the windows tinted today. Picked up Tuesday night. Dealership dropped the ball hard but I got her home that’s all that counts. 150 miles so far and love the truck. Now off to other threads to do some research on rust preventative and paint protection. Thanks everyone here.

Really Love the color, saw it on a 2021 3500 DRW with black out trim... tried to order it on my 2022 ... no go, color not available ... good for the wife cause, just today I brought it up again and she reiterated that she doesn't like the color. Anyway, I ended up ordering it with billet silver metallic and black out trim and rims.. I can live with it.. but still would have preferred the green .... where in CT are ya... I'm in Springfield

Not as bad as the fluid film or wool wax but it is aerosol so will have some overspray. I usually wait for a very calm wind morning and back the vehicle in the grass. Tried it in garage once and ends up covering things along with the vehicle and also a PIA as a good bit falls to the floor and fun to get off. When it’s in the grass i just let it “grow out”. Haha
Here's a link to a forum for baby trucks that a guy did a great job documenting the use of the RP-342 with a ton of pics. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/rust-veto-342-cosmoline-undercoating.651180/ I mean if the stuff can keep a toyota from rusting it must be damn near magic right? haha

can anyone tell me if you can still only get power folding mirrors on the limiteds? I almost ordered a Longhorn to replace my Laramie, but didnt want to spend the extra $4K for power mirrors and lose the night package which I want. Definitely didnt want to pay the way more extra for a night edition limited.
