Recall Manufacturer Safety recall issued 2019-2020 D TRANSMISSION VALVE BODY

Yeah doesn’t seem they are to concerned with those of us that alrdy have our trucks.

Seems it would be cheaper to get my truck fixed then replace it after it burns to the ground.

All depends on how good your insurance is.......:-) Hope neither one of us has to experience it catching on fire.....:-0

Thanks for posting this link. Good description of the physical changes. It gives me the creeps to think of my dealer doing this to the transmission. Guarantee it wont come out as good as it went in. I bet that they even re-use the old fluid.
My concern is that this seems to have many specific steps to perform and they're doing this to +84k trucks? I feel like that's a lot of opportunities for things to be missed, mistakes, shortcuts etc.

I completely agree here. I do not see how this procedure being performed by dealers isn’t going to cause more issues due to improper handling of transmission components during re-assembly. Watch the thread count of transmission problems in a few months....a flash only recall to force transmission fluid cooling (alert driver to pull over and let tranny fluid cool down) would’ve been safer than what this procedure will cause...........shame.

Mine is under the same recall have not tried to have repaired yet
I had an appointment scheduled for Thursday morning. Just got a call from dealer and they said FCA is only allowing a dealer to order parts once per week per customer for this recall and that I am in line for March 25th. That’s a month out. I asked dealer to email me in writing the confirmation for the new appointment date. They did.

I did my part.

Hey, Buppies. We do recommend visiting your dealer when you have a chance to discuss this recall. Letters will also be mailed to customers as parts become available.

Glad to hear you were able to work with your dealer for this, Omarf4. Keep us updated on how things go.

makes me nervous to have these bone headed techs get into my transmission.
Yeah, you know they are under a huge backlog right now. Each dealership has to fix every truck that they have sold so far in total. All about getting it done, not about getting it done right. Should give everyone an extension on the warranty.

As a solution to prevent oil coming out of the dipstick tube and getting on the turbo, then catching fire, I would rather have a plug for the dipstick personally (it would have to be designed correctly). Could remove the plug and check with dipstick periodically. Not like I use it every day. My F150 10-speed didn't even have a dipstick.

Would you like to by a truck that was at risk of randomly catching on fire, and then was fixed with a rushed afterthought quick fix to the transmission which requires high skill level, attention to detail, and sterile technique but is done at your local dealer?
Hmmmm........

Well I wanted a aftermarket trans pan anyways so I may just opt to drop the pan after it’s fixed and check the lower valve body myself (make sure all the bolts are there and torqued). I take it they are not changing filters while they are in there?

Good point!!!! One would think they would replace filter and fluid both considering they are saying the Tranny’s could build up too much heat. I will have to ask my dealer that question when they ever get to mine....:-/

FCA let me schedule my truck for the recall on 2/25. Took it in and then the dealer called me the next day saying they didn’t have the parts and can’t order them until 3/1. This is getting to be ridiculous. My truck had to go in twice to figure out a battery saver issue and now this.

Wow......:-/ Unbelievable!!!!! My son had the battery saver issue on his 19 RAM CTD, he never told me what the dealer did to fix it.

I certainly apologize for the frustration this is causing you, ejmuller. If you have any questions regarding this, please send us a private message or continue to work with your dealer for updates.
