TPMS (TIS) sensors for trailer (SOLVED - see 1st post) aka TTPMS - Trailer TPMS

So I installed the module behind the bumper and the TIMs in my 2022 Longhorn Limited. I figured since I had to take it to the dealer for a bad shock anyway - I would have the dealer flash the trailer TPMS. They told me they had to get the software from Chrysler in order to do this. Is that just a dealer thing - could I have just bought the AlfaOBD wit the security cable and enabled it or are the 2022s different in some way?

It came with the Towing Tech Group - not the "B" however.

Well,

I got my truck back today - my wife picked it up so when I got home from work I went out to see if they got it enabled.

Nope - Nada - nothing in he cluster under trailer settings or on the Uconnect. This is why dealerships suck.

It did say in the first thread it may take several key cycles or even overnight to show up? At least I think that’s what that first post was referring too?

Guess I am going to making another appointment with the dealer. I probably should have just bought the latest version of AlphaOBD and the security cable. Does anyone know if the OBDLink MX will work on the 2022s? I see on their website it isn't supported any longer. I used this when I had my 2017 2500 and its been sitting in a drawer since I traded it in :D

On the 2020 there was also a module above the headliner needed along with a small jumper. It was located just above the rear window on the left side of the vehicle. Here is a picture of an extra one I ordered 16408955334032466509550207488385.jpg

Correction its the right side of the vehicle

After reading your post I see you did install the TIM Module
I checked AfaOBD and it supports the 2022 so I'd just get the bypass cable and give your OBDLINK adapter a try.

Yes, the MX works exactly the same as the MX+ with AlfaOBD. The only difference between the two is MX+ supports iOS, which is irrelevant to AlfaOBD.

I found out today why the trailer TPMS was not showing up in the cluster or the UConnect.

I do not know if this is true for all dealerships - but Larry H Miller pulls the build sheet for your truck and if they do not see the sales code you are trying to get them to program they don't do it. I had explained to the service writer that I installed the bumper and headliner module and I just need the sales code added on the first trip (he had that deer in the headlight look so i should have known better). Apparently that wasn't communicated to the tech - they still charged me $149.00 but didn't tell me they did not add the programming for the trailer TPMS.

I took the truck back today and after about an hour I get a call from the service writer - he puts the tech on the phone and the tech tells me my build sheet doesn't have trailer TPMS and it doesn't have the needed modules. So I tell him I installed them - he responds " Even the one in the headliner?". :D

So hopefully he gets it working. I really try not to lose my patience with these service writers, but they make it hard.

Be thankful the tech knew enough to ask and knew there were modules required.

@Brutal_HO

So They got it programmed but the tech had to call an engineer at FCA to walk him through the process... Apparently the Trailer TPMS isn't available on the 2022s yet?

No idea...

Now to go park next to the trailer and program it.

I tried 3 times pairing the MOPAR tires sensors to the truck and could not get the first tire to pair. They were paired to my previous truck, could that be an issue?

I tried with the truck running and the trailer connected to the truck - nada. Took the tire to flat all 3 times. Trailer is 32 ft.

The trailer has been sitting for a couple weeks - maybe hook it up and take it for a spin to wake the sensors?

I did notice that the menu below the pairing screen doesn't look right. I did have to do a soft rest of the Uconnect 5 to get the orange arrow to come up when pairing. Maybe it will work tomorrow :D

No, I snagged this truck when it was already in transit to the dealer. The trailer TPMS was not one of the options they ordered - sometimes I think the people at the Dealerships ordering these trucks are not knowledgeable on what to order - for example they ordered this truck with every towing option - 360 trailer camera - digital rearview mirror with trailer back up camera etc...but they leave off the trailer TPMS that is an inexpensive upgrade compared to all the other upgrades.

Hell, my salesman didn't even know the difference between the HO and SO...

I am in the same exact situation. Placed an order for a Ford F-450 7/5 and it's still not built, the dealership even suggested we order a parallel F-350 DRW a couple months later and it to isn't built yet. Long story short, cancelled the order and put a deposit on a 3500 Cummins HO DRW that's in transit that has everything I want, expect, you guessed it, the TTPMS.

Searched and found this awesome thread on the topic. Question, how did it go with the dealership programing the add-on, did you get it figured out? Not sure I want to get the AlfaOBD since we only have one PC in the house, but I am still learning and figuring out what will be needed. Not sure I want to deal with a dealership not knowing what to do.

Did you have any delays with the Sensor Kit? If so, how long?

Also, the Ram truck web site doesn't even list the difference in HP/Torq between the HO and SO. Kind of surprised about that to be honest, but needless to say I've always wanted a Cummins and looking forward to driving Ram, it'll be my first one.

General question regarding the reprogramming to get the TTPMS to show up. When the truck goes back into the shop does the TTPMS programming need to be removed if I used the AlfaOBD?

The reason why I ask, we have a European car that I added the rear fog lights to, it required a new light switch housing and reprogramming. There have been cases when dealerships plugged into the OBD-II and the cars threw a code, because the fog lights are not on the build sheet or even an option in The States. Owners have showed up to a car with a new light switch installed (without rear fogs) because that's what the code and fix was.

Hopefully my question and example makes sense?

I am placing the order for all the parts required and one is throwing a warning that it doesn't fit my truck....

Wireless Control Module Receiver - Mopar (68375990AC)

Says it only fits the 1500, and I am thinking this isn't an issue but would like to confirm this is still a good part #.
