If my 2021 Ram 2500 CTD with 3.73's is rated to tow 17,000lbs. How much towing weight before I need to use tow/haul mode. I plan to tow a 4000lb. Jeep using my 2000lb. open trailer for a total weight of 6000lbs.

I have used the Tow/Haul with about 1500 lbs on my utility trailer - I probably didn't need to - skipped the EB however on that load.

I haul the same amount regularly and use Tow Haul mode for 4k lbs. I leave it off when I tow my empty trailer anywhere (1800 lbs). I have the Hemi so with the diesel I’m sure you wouldn’t even feel 4k lbs back there.

I have not used it to tow my 1500lb side by side on my 2000 trailer as it doesn't even seem to know its back there but plan on using it to tow the jeep on my trailer.

weight is one factor, the type of driving you are doing is the other. Eg hills and elevation vs flat road.

You get more exhaust brake with tow/haul.

I wish I had a pic of the s#it eating grin I had on my face the first time I came down a highway exit ramp with my camper in tow with tow haul/EB engaged :D

When I tow my Jeep, I use it …but there has been plenty of times I forget to turn it on and the truck does just fine without it. It’s not just the 6k or so my trailer and TJ weighs…it’s everything else we bring along that really start adding up.

Amazon? Tow my 8000 lbs boat without the tow/haul with no problems and get better gas mileage without it on.

EB and TH go on always but TH usually gets turned of on the big road unless I'm running in the mountains.

I used TH and EB coming back from TX with the Jeep on my trailer. Averaged 13.8 at 70mph. Have 2500 miles on my truck now. It never downshifted on the hills and maintained 70 easily. I really like the CTD.
