I have no idea what you’re talking about but it sure did make me laugh
The movie "16 Candles". One of my wife's favorites and the reason she likes that car. Historians point to that movie as one of the reasons for the car's popularity.

Ah I’m an 80s baby but I don’t think I’ve actually watched that movie lolThe movie "16 Candles". One of my wife's favorites and the reason she likes that car. Historians point to that movie as one of the reasons for the car's popularity.
I believe that car was popular cause its drop dead gorgeous. I drove my 76 VW Scirocco lowered by torch & taped on wood measuring sticks, milled head, header, and big weber carb and pretending it was a 944, haha. Bring back the 80's.The movie "16 Candles". Back then, many of us just thought of it as stylized 924. I like the look now but definitely not back then.I believe that car was popular cause its drop dead gorgeous. Yes I remember them sediments about the 944, but if you really knew the 944 it was so much more, but as I drove a Scirocco I liked the torpedo look. Back in the 80's the only Porsche I didn't appreciate was the 914, I remember racing one through Seattle and I pushed him so hard sparks where flying every bump he hit and I out powered him.Back then, many of us just thought of it as stylized 924. Oh, I knew about the 944. I just thought they looked like @ss...... and it wasn't a 911. Body style was too similar of a shape to the Datsun 280z for me.Yes I remember them sediments about the 944, but if you really knew the 944 it was so much more, but as I drove a Scirocco I liked the torpedo look. My Scirocco was fast for its time with all the work I had done to it. I did get embarrassed by a square body Mazda with a Wankel coming down the mountain pass, I was doing 120mph and that sewing machine blew past me, lol. The memories!
280Z, another bad @ss car.Oh, I knew about the 944. I just thought they looked like @ss...... and it wasn't a 911. Body style was too similar of a shape to the Datsun 280z for me.
I fitted a scirocco manual steering rack into this 944Yes I remember them sediments about the 944, but if you really knew the 944 it was so much more, but as I drove a Scirocco I liked the torpedo look. I just didn't like the look. I liked driving the 240z. I hated the 280z. I had a friend with a 944 back then. He started with a 924, then the 944 but eventually ended up with a 911.And how is that a bad thing? Lol
I get it. When it came out it was a poor mans Porsche (still is) Many experts say the water cooled front engine cars saved the company and thus saved the 911.
But, it wasn’t fast then and certainly isn’t fast now. But, it’s a drivers car, like a Miata. They’re gaining in popularity now but they’ll never be 911s.
I liked the 280z until 1978, didn't like the 1979 ZX as much. Now I like the look of the old cars and trucks, but I like modern tech & creature comforts of the new cars & trucks.I just didn't like the look. I liked driving the 240z. I hated the 280z. Now the cars are cool. Well, I still don't like the 280z much. LOL
