2022 Ram HD Builds and orders - Post and discuss your TRUCK order here! ** NEW USERS READ POST #1 **

Lucky devil. I ordered from Aaron at Mark Dodge and try to avoid bothering him since I know he is super busy.
Agree. They’re both awesome. Sandi has repeatedly told me to “check back in 2-3 weeks”. So that’s what I usually do. Just a quick email…. “When you have a minute…no rush…anytime next week is fine…can you check if there is an update to the estimate ship date?”

Ready for flames --- conundrum: local dealer yesterday offered an in-stock 2021 F-250 Lariat 7.3L at 8% below sticker. Nice truck, very comparable to my order 2022 2500 Laramie 6.4Hemi with all the Tech ( LevelB/SafetyGroup/TowTech/SnowChief/OffRoad/BedUtility/BodyColorBumpers) I ordered on 12 July. The F-250 has everything but the adaptive cruise and heated rear seats - but adds panoramic sunroof, steps, 20"wheels. My Ram deal is also good and about 9% less then sticker. Overall price difference is about $3k more for Ford. The catch is F-250 is "now" - and giving full amount for my trade with a good discount. My Ram dealer mentioned yesterday my trade has probably decreased about $1k from order date and seems no one has an idea on when a tech optioned Laramie might get built. So my trade value decreasing the longer I wait starts to make up the difference in price.

I'm coming from a Chevy Silverado - so I don't really care about brand loyalty - just want a nice/capable/reliable truck. When I did the search this summer, was a toss-up between RAM/Ford - I liked RAM, wife liked Ford plusses/minus for each truck. Agree with all the previous comments on overpricing these days for "lot trucks" waiting is a no brainer and having patience is key - but with a similar "deal" 9% vs 8% do you think the same thing?

I do like the RAM I built on order- obviously picked all the preferences (colors, options, etc). Worth the unknown wait for RAM? or jump on deal with Ford (knowing they are NOT doing the overpriced thing like most dealer lots right now) ?

Thoughts?
Make sure you sit in the Ford and drive one if you can. Personally, it's not as comfortable as the Ram. The seats are more "work truck" feeling. Thinner cushions. As far as adaptive cruise, they are a nuisance to use. I've been driving rental vehicles for the past few months from Nissan to VW and they are annoying. I feel like I'm a very considerate driver. I travel mostly highway and I can tell when a vehicle has the adaptive cruise on. I drive in the right lane until I'm ready to pass. I see them coming up in my rear view mirror fast, so I wait to get over to the left lane, then that vehicle slows down behind me making me think I can get over to pass the tractor trailer in the right lane then they get over and the adaptive cruise kicks back in and it accelerates. I know, cuz that's what happens to me when I used it. You have to be constantly cancelling it or be inconsiderate and constantly slowing and accelerating. That's just my rant on the adaptive cruise. Anyway, Ford is nice. Looked into them myself. Wouldn't buy a diesel truck over Ram, but the 7.3 Gasser is nice.

You know that old adage about "a bird in the hand". I have never owned a Ford so I can't say anything bad about them but, they are #1 in truck sales.

Can't go wrong with a Ford truck. I currently have a F-150 and know several people with F-250s. It's really a personal opinion but I honestly feel Fords 7.3 is better in every single aspect over RAMs 6.4. You get a bigger cab with the Ford (for all the MegaCab bros, Fords crew cab is still bigger), aluminum body, more power, more torque. Looks come down to your own opinion but both trucks looks outstanding.... maybe a slight advantage to RAM since the Ford looks plain from the side. Ford upgraded to a 12 in screen this year so thats a plus there as well. I personally like the RAM interior and thats what drove me on my decision. The RAM truck has a great interior but everything else on the truck is dated and under powered. Go with whatever truck you like more!

Agreed.

I have a 2011 FX4 and it’s been one of the best vehicles I’ve ever owned. I’m actually keeping it, letting my daughter drive it, and getting rid of our POS Honda Odyssey. I absolutely love that truck and will probably drive it till the wheels fall off.

Usually after you drive a brand new vehicle and you get back in your 10 year old vehicle there is a moment of disappointment. Not this time. I was happy with how tight and smooth the Ford still is after all these years. I have the full Bilstien Leveling kit which helps. But the truck just rides smooth and quite. Ford really is building amazing vehicles these days. But so is everyone else (except for GM apparently).

I’m going with the Ram 2500 over the Ford F-250 because of the drivability. Its as close as I can find to the ride of a smooth 1500, but with 99.9% of the HD truck features I need.

It’s gonna be my every day driver and I personally find it to be better suited to every day driving than F250. It’s a compromise for sure. But to me it’s worth it.

There is no such thing as a u turn in my Ford. Every turn is a three point turn. Parking is a pain. You just back in everywhere. When I drove the 2500 I couldn’t believe how tight they have that thing turning for such a large vehicle. And the ride was amazingly compliant. I really liked the feel with the air ride rear. Definitely getting that option.

And of course I love the look, fit, finish, and feel. Ram has really done an outstanding job with the new trucks.

What build tool are the guys using thar are currently building trucks to check pricing differences between bh, Laramie and Limited? Ram's site still only let's you build a irrelevant 2021.

I completely disagree about the adaptive cruise. I drive 1k-1500k miles a week in a cherokee that has it and all the other bells and whistles. Adaptive cruise is a huge safety upgrade. And reduces the stress placed on you from driving so much. I rarely have to cancel my cruise and resume it. Unless coming to a stop. It one of the features I insisted I had to have if I was going to upgrade my truck.

I only use my truck to pull a large 5th wheel, usually between 5-10k miles a year. So the cruise is May be more valuable to me than others that don't drive long distances though.

I just use the 2021 builder and add $1k-$1500 and its close enough. If you build all 3 on there and compare the price difference on those 2021s you probably wont be more than $500 or so off when it comes to the differences.

I did this before i put my order in by comparing the 2021 pricing so i could just go order the one i wanted without needing to build all three and decide there.

I'd pass based on the sunroof alone. My buddy gets a new one every year or two...and specifically will not own another with the sunroof. He's had 4 recently and they ALL leak. His latest truck doesn't have the sunroof and he's happy again. I was interested in one of his used ones and he specifically said to wait for the one he has now..simply for the lack of sunroof.

If I recall correctly, they also reduce payload. And, not to be Debbie downer, I have a police friend who said rollovers with sunroofs can be...bad.

Last I checked the option prices were accurate but the base MSRP hadn't updated with the most recent increase from Ram. On a 2500 Laramie Mega Cab, the MSRP base price was $555 more than NADA showed.

That is a tough one. I currently have a 2022 F-250 build sheet out to 2 dealers waiting on pricing. With the 12” in the Ford now, they’re pretty close to the same truck. I ordered a Limited MegaCab on 6/21. If I don’t hear anything in next 2 weeks, I’m moving forward with Ford. I hate it too, because I love my Ram! I need a bigger backseat tho, and the more I look at F/250, the better they look. I really don’t need the storage behind seat, I need backseat room for little girls that like putting their feet all over Daddy’s nice seats, haha!

The mega cab's storage behind and under the seat (and the in floor behind seat covered cubbies) are what kept me out of an F-250. Having those all easily accessible makes my truck so much more useful for me with a family. The 60/40 split on the Ford is opposite the Ram so my kids in the Ford would be sitting on both vs just the 60 in the Ram. Ford's underseat storage is nice but always have to lift a seat up to access it meaning one of the kids has to unbuckle and get up and move the booster seat. You can get an aftermarket strap to release and fold down the backseat on the drivers side like you can the passenger side but there's hardly any space back there. Maybe a few things would fit back there but not much. If I didn't need/utilize those storage features so regularly, I would've gone with the F-250 because I felt the truck felt/drove smaller (not a fan of Ram's gargantuan hood) even tho overall same length as the Mega Cab, and the interiors are brighter. Ram's all dark interiors are not my thing.

Drivetrain-wise I felt Ford was close but watching TFL Truck's Ike Gauntlet tests proved to me the Ram is still better for making towing easier. I like you get 5" more bed length as well in the Ford. Lastly, and probably the biggest win for Ford is the extra 800-900# payload (compared to Mega Cab), basically for FREE, because Ford let's you choose your own GVWR.

Yeah, the sun roof too was a deal breaker for me. I'll never own a vehicle with a sun roof or auto running boards. Both are prone to failures. The limited looked nice but many of the standard options I didn't want, and the few extras I could get. Made the trim a solid no to me. This will be my 4th Laramie I have liked the 3 previous. And every generation seems to add a little more refinement.

Was just curious if there was a different build tool that had the 22 build options available. Guys were talking about different interior bezels colors and other things. Just seemed like there was another builder tool that I was missing.

I spent some time in the back seat of an F-150 last week dove hunting. Roomier than mine, flat floor, and the AC kicked Ram to the curb, but the seats were nowhere near as comfortable. If it matters, it was a cloth trim truck. Seemed harder to get into (door opening shorter?)

Cannot vouch for the validity but this guy on HD 2500 Facebook page told me this. The HD plants are expecting a shipment of chips. So if that's accurate we could be seeing allot of movement by the end of the week.

My wife's car has the adaptive cruise and I find my self turning it off more often than not. I am so accustom to driving with regular cruise that I don't notice when I come up on a slower vehicle and the cruise slows me down and keeps me a safe distance behind, even on the closest setting. I'm used the visual of coming up on the slower car as signal to my brain to move over. Since ACC comes with the other features I wanted in the Safety Group, I'll try it but ultimately might always turn it off. Maybe when towing it'll be more useful to me since I'll likely be the slowest on the road.

Ford's ACs have ALWAYS been king in my experience in all of their vehicles. Whatever they know that the others don't is incredible.
