2022 Ram HD Builds and orders - Post and discuss your TRUCK order here! ** NEW USERS READ POST #1 **

Did everyone order from mark dodge on here? Isn’t shipping high? I was getting prices around $3k to ship my trade in and ship my new order to me in mass. I ended up just ordering local and got $2500 off msrp and $6k more for my trade than what I paid for .
Not everyone but a lot did. I sold my truck local and plan to fly down to Mark dodge and drive back. Plane ticket, fuel, and hotels will be less than $1k for me in NC. So for me its worth the hassle for the extra savings, plus I could use a good road trip.

I know what your saying about the numbers, if I switch to the Laramie the Msrp goes from a 8 to a 9, and I’m just not sure I want to do that. The Laramie I built will be pretty nice, just won’t have the headlights and the little bit better seats. Think I’ll just stay in the line I’m in and stick with the Laramie.
Gotcha. Neither were appealing to me. The indigo frost may have been ok but I’d have to see just how blue the indigo looks in person. The frost part looked nice in the photos. The extra $4-$5k just added too many other things I didn’t want so Laramie it was for me. I also wanted to keep the discounted sales price with a 6 in front vs a 7 just for psychological reasons! :)

On that PDF that someone posted a couple posts again it said the multi directional headlights we NA Not Available on the Laramie. But were part of a P package on the Longhorn Limited. That was a 2021 the PDF referenced so I guess it could change for 2022 but I doubt it. It makes sense. They have to differentiate the two somehow. If you could just order a Laramie and add all the options to make it the same as a Limited for $4k less they’d probably lose a lot of sales on the limited. They probably need to give you a few things to make it worth it to move up.

My understanding is the longhorn can be optioned to directional led headlights with the 3K safety pkg. It is very much a limited/ longhorn only item. I priced out both a limited and longhorn with 95% of the options and they were within $1500 of each other. The limited appear to have less you can select from individually. The have one large level 1 package that is like 4k and includes safety, towing tech... Im one of the odd ones who like chrome grills, and saddle interior so I got the longhorn. This is my forever truck, so If the longhorn had anything other than aesthetics different from limited I would have gone that route with the price being so close. I wanted two tone paint.

My only question is this tow mode camera. I did not initially select the prewire option due to not wanting trailer 360. I have a feeling all of us who bought the loaded out truck with the digital mirror, and additional $450 tow mode camera will find we don't have the 12 pin plug in the bed or bumper to use it. Unless they somehow include the prewire cost somewhere else. The tow mode camera is less than the factory prewire on a longhorn so I'm in the dark. I'm not too concerned, since I'm capable of adding the two kits after, however Ill be upset at the increased price, vs the $500 manufacturer installed. I think the order system should have self corrected the lack of prewire if it was needed to get the 12 pin for the tow mode camera wired. I chose not to get the 360 trailer since I optioned the truck 360. I did spec the trailer tpms, and unlike ford RAM uses the 12 pin only for the aux/360 trailer cam, not the ttpms.

I found out that the tow mode camera for the digital rear view mirror won’t be run through the 12 pin connector. It has it’s own connector at the bumper.

Really, that is news to me. Just so we are clear, the 12 pin im talking about takes the place of the mopar 4 pin that rides next to the 7 way rv plug. So your saying there is a totally separate connection for the tow mode wired camera...
Well now my issue is the fact Im wanting to use this as gooseneck. Where did you find this info from if you don't mind? Because I will have to mod this for in the bed use.

I can’t find any info on the camera that goes with the pre wire (no camera) trailer camera option.

I assume this is what you’re taking about?

In fact I couldn’t find much about the pre wire either. I did see a video where the guy showed the plugs for it in the bumper and I did see the option for it on the 12” screen of a vehicle I test drove. I think it just said Camera 1/2/3/4 and not available cause nothing was plugged.

But you’re saying that the camera when installed on the trailer will display in the review mirror???

I’m interested in this option as I’m getting this vehicle specifically to tow a camper and would like that camera mounted in the back of the camper, but I can’t figure out how it’s wired or where you purchase the camera that goes with the prewire.

So with the last few posts discussing upgrading from one level of truck up to the next and seeing that there was a $4-5k difference it made me go back and look at the pricing difference when I placed my order for the options I would have wanted with either package. Things have definitely changed a bit since I first placed my order on June 8th, when I initially priced out a loaded Laramie vs a Limited there was only about $900 difference. Now going with today's pricing structure and packaging changes the difference has jumped to a $1745 difference. I'm glad I ordered when I did for the price lock and have no regrets for going to the Limited, especially for the price I paid.

Do you know if that is going to use the same connector as the trailer surround view?

Absolutely for trucks with digital mirror, my understanding was the trailer camera(no camera) prewire was the replacement of all the 4 pins to 12 pin sockets. Just depends on if you get one or two with or without the gooseneck prep kit(no price change).

This was to run the single aux trailer camera, double aux trailer camera, or trailer 360 camera. I assumed it was to run the tow mode camera as well. But as JIMMY07 pointed out I may have been wrong on that assumption. Ford also runs their trailer tpms module through this connection on their trucks because the receiver is mounted on trailer. Ram mounts the ttpms receiver on bumper so you dont need a receiver for every trailer. This is where tow mode camera shines, since it can be viewed at all times, and only requires a wired camera, not a whole monstrosity of 4 cameras, and splitter box for each trailer that can only be seen in a blip in reverse.

I messed up when detailing my build because I wasn't going with trailer 360. I should have just added the option and been done with it but It was 550. The after the fact kits are available and can be added to both bumper and gooseneck spots. I guess Ill know when my truck shows up. Either way a new unique connection for tow mode camera could useful, but who knows what that looks like. I am skeptical though, It wouldn't make sense to have another type of connection.

Trailer 360(surround view) Will use the 12 pin connection. What I cannot tell you is if the dealer didnt add the prep kit, whether or not the manufacturer will catch the missing prep kit and if the price will add or zero out on your order.

Really happy to hear this, it was the only question I had about my order.

FYI: The Limited trim has projector headlights that are directional. Lower trims have reflector headlights that are non-directional.

I’m still completely confused on these two options.

Tow Mode Camera (Wired) $450 option

Mopar Trailer Camera Wiring w/No Camera $515 option

If you order the $450 option the other one is unavailable so it must be one or the other.

And I still can’t figure where the heck you buy the camera from. I’ve searched and can’t find it anywhere. I assume it’s user error and I don’t know what I’m searching for.

And I am upgrading to the Limited. I talked to them today and my ordered was already processed. They were closed today. He’s gonna call the factory tomorrow and see if they’ll change it. I didn’t have to put a deposit down so I’m sure I can get it changed.

Tow Mode Camera (Wired) $450 option- this is the digital camera for the digital rear view mirror that you would attach to the back of a trailer, and plug into the bumper. It’s image will display in the rear view mirror only, and will be selectable between that camera, and the rear view mirror camera that is in the CHMSL.

Mopar Trailer Camera Wiring w/No Camera $515 option- this is the truck wiring prep for the aux trailer cameras 1&2 that have been offered for a few years now, and it would include the 12/7 way trailer connector. This option only preps the truck wiring itself to accept the trailer wiring kit, and has the feature for the aux cameras enabled in the radio. The camera kit with wiring that plugs into the 12 way connector is available separately.

To avoid derailing any further, if you start a thread specific to the differences between all these camera systems on the 2022s, and tag me in it, I can explain in more detail how each of them gets hooked up to the truck.

Wilco. Perfect. Best explanation I’ve heard yet. Thank you.

I'd like to see that as I've been scratching my head about the availability of BOTH the tow mode in rearview AND the 360* trailer surround (which we know uses a converter box and the 12-pin).

I know my price is congigent on using there financing and that it's a gentleman's agreement to make 6 payments...I plan to just pay the truck off. I was also informed about the dumb safety kit. The truck will still end up being cheaper than what I could get here in Utah so I guess I'll play the dumb games. I figure if they try to play games with me I'll just pay the truck off before the wished upon 6 payments which will only hurt themselves.
I get it, I still bought from them because the price and options on my '21 were right. I used my own financing and didn't let them install or charge me for the "safety kit". They did try to sneak the $$ into another "fee", but when I called them on it, they took it back off.
