2022 Ram HD Builds and orders - Post and discuss your TRUCK order here! ** NEW USERS READ POST #1 **

With the amount of material the need to collect for each build I would think the RPO number would override the order date,it would make it easier to source and organize the parts needed, otherwise they would be bouncing all over the place
What is the RPO number? Is that an internal thing?

Just got an interesting response from Ram chat this morning on order status. They say they no longer use/provide build status codes but said all material have been procured and would be entering the production process shortly but they did not have a ship ETA yet. I asked if this was further progress than the D status description of "Firm schedule: serial number assigned" and they said yes it was... This seems to be in between D and D1 status as from my understanding D1 status typically has a ship ETA.

Has anyone else received a similar response?
I thought I'd see what they said about mine this morning too, and was told only that materials were being gathered and then I'd be sequenced for production. Last status I had was 'D' - she said to check back in a week. So I probably will.

Dealer told me today that the truck is in D1 status. This thread moves pretty quick so it's hard to keep up but hopefully that is accurate.
I just got off ram chat with customer service agent. She confirmed my order (3C6UR5FJXNG115221) is BEYOND D status now and should commence shortly. She said same thing about not getting build codes any longer. I wish this meant they were going to start before the 9th but that is probably wishful thinking. I hope this means they start cranking these suckers out on 8/9 like everyone is saying they will.

Alright, so I’m vin ….3157. Just called and they gave me the same “all the required materials have been gathered and the plant has sequenced your order for production, it should be entering the build very soon” message. No confirmed dates.
I’m 2500 Laramie B Cummins CCSB with the sunroof. So it sounds like the early sunroofs will be good to go.

I am *hoping* that, given the minimal number of changes between 21 and 22 that there is not much retooling and they can ramp quickly. I doubt Uconnect5 would be a huge change, and I can't remember if the 1-2 small things I've heard are even worth mentioning. Just packaging changes due to the chip shortage stuff and small price increases.

I think it is by order date. Sort this by sequence and look at the dates. Assuming they build them in order of the number, not sure.
Randomly putting assorted parts on trucks as they move down the line seems like the absolute worst way to do it from a logistics and QC standpoint. What makes sense would be to group them by trucks with large differences (interior, engine, etc), then add parts as ordered at stations further down the line. To push out the highest volume, you have one person specializing in one thing (and sticking to it). They can't do it because of space limitations, and they don't want to pay people to stand around picking their noses. To maximize profit and volume, you group the trucks. Muscle memory is a thing, and people are involved in many processes building these.

You aren't gonna let a Limited with a sunroof and VIN 100010 hold up 700 Bighorns just because it has a lower VIN. You wait until you get enough Limiteds with sunroofs to get them running down the line. That is just how I'd run my plant. Idk how they actually do it though.

This is what I’m thinking too. Just a small “vacation” for the hard working folks on the floor. Then back at it. Hoping that they keep the same build times as the end of 2021 run.

Do you have a VIN number yet?
It is a 2021:
3C6UR5GJ0MG671826

I can ask Ramchat what is going on with the build, and they tell me the same thing as you guys. They've been telling me that since the beginning of May.

Just saying....don't get your hopes up that they'll build it any time soon

Thanks. I was wondering what might happen with the unfulfilled 2021 orders. My '22 order was one of the first, and my VIN is 100518. I am not sure if that means there are 517 2022's before me or not, or if that took left over 2021's into account (or there is no correlation at all?!?!?!?) I assume they will build the left over 2021's before they start on our 22 models. I would hope so at least.

Got an updated build from my dealer this morning. Says D1 status, estimated ship date of 8/14. Ram chat has told me the same about not using build codes, but they’re definitely still in use on the build sheets.

I see in my notes that NG102255 is a '21 to '22 swap. Much later sequence number than yours.

Just a thought, but I’ve seen a few people with ship dates showing 8/14 which seems preposterous. However, since the 2022 is basically exactly the same as the 2021 with a few minor changes, what are the chances they had some trucks built to 95% completion and just waiting for the 2022 bits? Line changes over on the 9th, add few missing bits and then ship it out?

Probably just wishful thinking, I don’t know how the assembly lines operate.

It’s totally possible. Ford had a bunch that were sitting on a lot ready to go. Guess it would be just a change in VIN (is that allowed prior to “manufacture completion”?) and swapping out a uconnect 5 radio (unless they plan to piss a bunch of early orders off with a uconnect 4)

edit: mine is possibly part of that early deliver but I ordered the trailer surround camera…so either they are really fast at putting these things togehter, they’re totally wrong, or a lot of these parts are plug-n-play with other hardware

Once the VIN is stamped and installed on the car it’s specific to a year and there are several on a vehicle…. So if it has a 21 year code, it’s not so simple as making it a 22.

RAM chat gave me the same generic answers. I'm in no rush but since hearing people have estimated ship dates I decided to reach out to Sandi and see if she sees any status changes yet.
